Rick Brophy and David Dickson  were recently selected to the 2016 Super Lawyers in Texas list by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters service. Rick was recognized in the area of banking law, while David was recognized for his real estate expertise. Each is a long-time recipient of the honor.

Only the top five percent of attorneys in each state are selected. Super Lawyers is a rating service for outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes peer nominations, peer evaluations, and independent research. Attorneys who have been selected are featured in Super Lawyers Magazine, a Thomson Reuters publication.

Rick has significant experience in matters affecting financial institutions, construction companies, and other businesses. His practice includes mergers and acquisitions work, drafting and negotiating complex governance and other agreements, formation of entities, drafting construction-related agreements, and providing general legal advice to local businesses.

Rick has served as an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School for 28 years, teaching banking law for 20 years and mergers and acquisitions for the last eight years. He speaks regularly at meetings of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas and State Bar of Texas. Rick has provided numerous speeches on bank compliance regulations, including Regulation O, Lending Limit, and Section 23A. He also serves as general counsel to the Central Texas Associated General Contractors.

David has been representing business and individual clients for 40 years, primarily in real estate, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, estate planning, and probate matters. He regularly represents parties in transactions involving the purchase and sale of business entities and in complex business transactions. David negotiates bankruptcy and business-related settlements and represents banking institutions.

Since 1983, David has been certified in Commercial, Residential, and Farm & Ranch Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (“TBLS”), one of only 57 attorneys in Texas to hold all three certifications. He also serves as general counsel for the Waco Association of Realtors and the Heart of Texas Apartment Owners Association. David is an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School in the real estate area. He currently is both Chairman of TBLS and Treasurer of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
